Eligibility: Must have at least 300 cumulative hours. GSAs who volunteered at the Governor’s Party 12/6 will be given priority sign up regardless of hours as this was a 7+ hour (4-11pm), late night volunteer shift.
(If there are still seats available, on December 19, the hours requirement drops to 150. On January 1, the hours requirement drops to 50)

Accessibility Rating: Must be able to climb in and out of a van. Must be sure footed and able to do some outdoor winter walking.

The Mount Washington Snow Coach, Great Glen Trails, and the Glen House Hotel have invited 25 GSAs to experience the Mountain like few ever get to.

Full Itinerary:

Wednesday, January 8th
Arrive no later than 10am
10:15-11:30am SnowCoach Tour.
11:30-11:40am Great Glen Trails amenities / services
11:40-11:45am Walk to Glen House Hotel
11:45-12:15pm Tour of Glen House
Lunch on own: choice of cafeteria, bring your own, or Notch Bar & Grill at hotel

Option to stay and enjoy the trails network– snowshoe, Nordic ski, or snow tubing. Rentals not included.

Trip cost: SnowCoach driver gratuity and optional add-ons: lunch, rentals and/or overnight if you choose.

We will be riding the 10:15am SnowCoach up the mountain for about an hour’s tour up to the treeline where we will have the option of getting out for 10 minutes to look around. The coach is heated.

Plan to give the driver a $10 gratuity or 15-20% of the cost of the trip which is usually $55.

Next, we will hear from the folks at Great Glen Trails about their impressive trail system, paddling tours, and amenities. We will then be walking across the street to tour the new grand hotel, The Glen House where we will hear about the hotel’s history (replaced the original Great Glen Hotel), and their energy self-sufficient and carbon neutral footprint.

Lunch will be on your own – you can bring your own or eat in the Great Glen Trails cafeteria or in the Notch Bar & Grill at the hotel.

After lunch, you are welcome to stay and enjoy the trail network — snowshoe, Nordic Ski or snow tube. Rentals aren’t included.

NOTES:

Tour will only cancel if the weather is dangerous. The tour will not be cancelled for cold, snow, clouds, or wind.

Many of will be staying at the Glen House the night before if you would like to join us. Room prices are reasonable.
