Volunteer: Journey to the North Pole – Dec 13, Lincoln

Earns Volunteer Service Hours
Hours will be reported for you.

It is that time to let your inner Elf go free! We’ll be volunteering once again for the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Journey to the North Pole as elves on Friday December 13th in Lincoln NH (both shows). It is a wonderful way to get together, we’re helping a fantastic organization, getting in the Christmas spirit and although you’ll be in their costume instead of our GSA green, you will earn hours! So much fun!

Some details (more sent out to attendees in December):

  • Date: December 13, 2024
  • Time: ~4:00pm – 9:00pm (we are there for both shows)
  • Place: The North Pole in Lincoln, NH (directions to follow)

  • Hours: YES, you will get volunteer hours.
  • What to wear: Dress in layers to adjust for the weather. Your costume will go on top and provides warmth.
  • Difficulty: Mostly standing & walking (slight incline to the train). A break in the middle (they provide pizza/water/cookies)
  • Maximum Volunteers: 12 (may be able to do 15)
  • Believe in Books Literacy Foundation website: https://www.journeytothenorthpole.org.
  • Sign Ups Open: Wednesday, November 6 at 8am (on Volgistics, the existing system)

We will be escorting the families to and from the train and will be on stage during the show singing Christmas Carols (you can mouth the words) and being silly.  You’ll want to come up with your Elf name, age and what you do for Santa. Read more about the event on their website. You can also check out some blogs from past experiences to get an idea of what it is like. Note they had more elves pre-pandemic and did the show a little different.:

A lot of us stay overnight at the Indian Head Resort. After the shows, we go back and have a little after party to unwind. You must reserve directly with them either by calling or booking online. Some GSAs come up for the evening, carpool or have friends or family in the area.

It really is an amazing experience! Sign Ups are Open. If it is full, send me a message to get on the waiting list. If we have a lot on the waiting list and someone would like to go on a different date with other GSAs and are willing to be the point of contact that night, please let me know. I will help set it up. They run the Journey to the North Pole on weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas in Lincoln and North Conway. They also have volunteers as Chefs on the train if you are interested. Check out their website. Feel free to sign up on your own, they are happy to have volunteers and it is a great cause.

Due to the limited number of slots, we won’t open it up to bringing a guest or family member for a couple days, until Friday 11/8. After that, if there are openings, you are welcome to bring a guest. Please send me their name and I’ll put them in.

Any questions, please reach out to me.
