New Hampshire Tourism Information Booth in the New Hampshire Building at The Big E
Granite State Ambassadors are contracting partners for the New Hampshire Division of Travel & Tourism Development to assist with the planning, volunteer management, and onsite management of the New Hampshire Tourism Information booth within the New Hampshire building on the Eastern States Exposition grounds in West Springfield, MA for the Big E (September 13-29, 2019).

Get to 91S – Exit 13B – turn right to Route 5 (Riverdale St). After Cinema’s fork to the right at the light to Elm Street. Follow Elm Street (Candlewood Suites will be immediately on your left) for about a mile. At the third light, turn right onto Park Street. Get into left lane and take left at next light onto Western Ave. Employee Shuttle lot on your left. If its full, continue on Western Ave and turn left at next intersection for 2nd lot.
Option 2 is Pajer’s Field in Agawam – only 2.2 miles further. Follow directions to Western Ave you received in your packet, but DO NOT turn onto Western Ave. Stay on Park Street. Follow to next light and turn left onto River Road (you will go under at train trestle). Follow River Road to the end. At the light, turn right and go over the bridge. At the light by Rocky’s Hardware, go straight through .9 miles (Suffield St). At the next light you will see the parking area on other side. Plug this into your GPS – you can’t miss it: Italian Sporting Club, 349 Cooper St, Agawam, MA 01001
We’re looking for friendly, happy people to volunteer at NH Tourism Booth in the NH Building at The Big E in Springfield, MA. GSA volunteers, friends, and tourism industry folks are invited to volunteer during the 17 day fair. GSA volunteers will earn volunteer service hours. All volunteers will receive a free ticket to the fair and parking for the day(s) of their volunteer shift(s). Travel and accommodations are on-your-own, but we’ve researched a few options that are listed below. We look forward to seeing you at the fair!

There will be an orientation meeting at the Division of Travel and Tourism OLD offices at 172 Pembroke Rd, Concord on September 5, 10am-noon. While attendance is not required to volunteer, it is strongly recommended that you attend the orientation, especially if you’ve never volunteered before or haven’t been to the orientation in a year or two. Orientation is where you will receive your parking directions and tickets. Please sign up for orientation while you’re signing up for your shifts!
DEBRIEFING:
We will send out a survey after the event. There is a debriefing meeting scheduled for managers / supervisors on October 3, 11am.
HOW TO SIGN UP if you are a GRANITE STATE AMBASSADOR (GSA) Volunteers
On July 15th at 8am, sign up for shifts on the online calendar, as you would for anything else. Do NOT fill out the registration form. If you are not a GSA with a current calendar login – see next section!

STEP 1: Fill out the SIGN UP FORM/ACCOUNT SET UP. You can choose your shifts here, submit them and you are all set. No need to do anything else. If you would like more information like who else is signed up already or would like to change your shift, read on to see how to log into our calendar system.
After you have created an account via the link above, CLICK HERE to go to NHGSA’s volunteer online calendar system and log in using your email address and the password you created when you registered to see who else is signed up or to change, cancel or add shifts.
STEP 2:
Once you are logged in, click the CALENDARS tab and then on the date you wish to volunteer or attend orientation. Click the Schedule Me button on your desired shift(s).

SHOWCASE YOUR BUSINESS, ORGANIZATION, OR CLUB
Sign up using the form (link above) or on the online calendars and then let Kelly (kelly@nhgsa.com) know that you would like to be the ‘Featured Business/Celebrity‘ for that shift.
If no one has already signed up as the Featured Business/Celebrity, you can put your brochures, samples, etc. on the front counter, post an introduction sign, and use the video monitor if you would like.

LODGING OPTIONS
NHGSA is able to offer a few discounted kitchenette rooms at Candlewood Suites for $100 per night on a first-come/first-served basis that are booked directly through us. Contact Kelly (kelly@nhgsa.com) to make your reservations. We will be releasing the un-spoken for rooms we have reserved at this special rate on Saturday, September 7. After Sept 7, you have to make reservations directly with a local hotel.
Military retirees or Active Guard and Reserve members can get inexpensive lodging at The Flyers Inn on Westover Air Reserve Base in nearby Chicopee. The telephone number is (413) 593-5421.
There are dormitory beds available upstairs in the NH Building for $10 per night. Keep in mind that this is a shared space (big open room with cots, men and women separate, one shower for each side) and you have to bring your own bedding and towels. DIRECTIONS
Driving Directions to the employee lot (If you are taking Route 202 or Route 90 in, we highly recommend that you get to Route 91 south ABOVE Springfield and come in from this direction to avoid heavy traffic!)
Directions with map (PDF) Get to Route 91 South above W. Springfield and take Exit 13B. Turn right off the exit and follow Route 5 (Riverdale Street for about a mile. After the Cinema complex, there is a light. Just after the light, fork to the right onto Elm Street. Candlewood Suites (the GSA hotel) will be on your left. Follow Elm Street for just over a mile. At the third light, turn right onto Park Street. At the first light (at the end of the grassy common) turn left onto Western Ave. The employee parking lot is on your left (you will need your parking hang tag from orientation) – look for white and yellow tent. If this lot is full, they will direct you to continue to end of block and turn left for lot 2.
If you prefer to use your GPS or Google, the Big E employee parking lot on Western Ave in West Springfield can be reached by inputting 7 Western Ave. If that lot is closed or full, they’ll be using the next lot over, which you can reach by taking the next left onto Bliss St., and it will be immediately on the left.
