NH LAKES – LAKE HOST PROGRAM

# GSAs on duty: Options at lake ramps around the state

Staff: There is no staff on duty.  You will make arrangements through the coordinator of the region that you’re volunteering in.

Volunteer Opportunities: Lake Host Program Lake Hosts staff local boat access sites to teach the public about aquatic invasive species prevention methods and to help boaters remove potentially-invasive plants and animals from boats, trailers, and gear. Lake Hosts are not enforcers of local or state ordinances, rules, or laws. A Lake Host represents NH LAKES and the local group participating in the Lake Host Program. A Lake Host may be an individual hired as a NH LAKES seasonal employee or an individual serving as a NH LAKES volunteer from the local community.

Sign-ups: Please fill out the Volunteer Information Form.  The regional coordinator will reach out to you so that you can select your hours.  A 2 hour online training is required – the link will be in the email you receive after completing the form.  You will receive hours for completing the training.

Hours: Please report your own hours for all shifts through this center.  You will be recording boat information on-site.  Please include the number of interactions with boaters when you report your GSA hours.

Uniform: Wear your GSA uniform with a Lake Host hat, which will be given to you when you volunteer.

Staff: There is no staff on duty. Sign up with another GSA to mentor and then let Kelly know when you signed up so you can be expected.

Volunteer Opportunities: Shifts are available year-round in the NH Information Booth and as part of the Walk-about program from 6am-midnight, daily including holidays.

Perks: Long-term parking in garage for 28 days a year (up to 14 days at once). More info…

**You many only sign-up for 1 shift between 9am-6pm on any given day. Double shifts are only allowed beginning at 6am or 6pm, but are discouraged. This is a busy center and we don’t want you tired and not at your best.

Parking: Due to construction, parking is on your own at the moment.

Usual parking arrangements: You can park on the top floor in the legislative garage off Storrs St. Display your GSA car decal. Free parking in garage is not available on Tuesdays-Thursdays from Jan – June. Volunteers are still needed on those dates. During that time frame, parking can be found off Prince St. (which is the small one way road by the Concord Auditorium) behind the Concord Library, is the Merrimack County Bank lot (with a GSA placard). Up to 3 GSA’s can park in this lot during the mid-week.

Volunteer Amenities: small refrigerator and microwave.

GSAs are also invited to volunteer at several of the Chamber’s events: the Black Fly Open, Strawberry Festival, Chamber Night, and the League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair.
