Exploring the Woodman Museum

Exploring NH Passport: NH Heritage Trail with GSA Roberta Wells!

Woodman Museum

Just outside the center of Dover you will find the Woodman Museum.  Consisting of the original home of Annie Woodman and adjacent properties it houses an eclectic Collection of Historic Memorabilia that is worth the visit.  From Colonial Era artifacts housed in an authentic colonial garrison building dating back to 1690’s to the saddle used by Abraham Lincoln on his last review of the troops during the Civil War to local collections of battlefield souvenirs.  The tour is mostly self guided but there is a docent on hand to give an orientation of the exhibits housed in each building.

For those who wish to spend more time in the area you can visit the nearby Pine Hill Cemetery and look for some of the grave sites highlighted in the Woodman exhibits.  Or take the short trip into downtown to stroll the vibrant center.

A short drive away you can also stop in and do a tasting of wine and spirits at Flag Hill Winery before heading home.

It makes for a great Sunday drive.   https://woodmanmuseum.org/
