Social Committee: Vibes Lunch

By: Sarah Brown, Comfort Inn Concord GSA Class of 2011

Twenty-two GSAs gathered on September 8 to check out Vibes Gourmet Burgers on South Main Street in Concord. They specialize in all kinds of burgers and also have outstanding fries. The group sampled both burgers, fries, and salads, and everyone rated their lunch as great. A few also sampled the housemade gelato which was also a hit. Homemade soups will be added as the weather cools.

The restaurant manager, Daiquiri, spoke to us about their commitment to the community which includes hiring workers with special needs, buying local ingredients, and supporting community events.

Here is some feedback from some of the GSA who attended:

“I liked Vibes, very tasty burger.  Good place to know about when passing by Concord.” ~Christina S

“Best French Fries ever!!!” ~Sue2

“Enjoyed an excellent hamburger for lunch. I chose not to build my own burger and tried the Malibu (avocado, chipotle mayo. Arugula and herbed goat cheese) which was delicious. You could taste the improved flavor of the vegan-fed angus beef patty. Topped it off with a tasty homemade mocha gelato. I loved that they get all local suppliers for their ingredients and their generous donations to the surrounding community. Easily accessible near the Red River Cinema on Main Street. The burger selection includes other meat and vegan patty choices as well as salads. This has been on my bucket list for a while and was worth the visit.” ~Kathryn S

“Lunch and service were great!  And their gelato was a wonderful way to end a perfect lunch!” ~Joan B

“What a fabulous find! The food was very delicious, both the interesting burger with apple and maple, and the amazing French fries. They make a lot in-house or acquire locally. I especially liked hearing about how the owners are interested in a lot more than just the bottom line. Daiquiri, the general manager, was very articulate about how they give back to the community. I will definitely be making a return trip and recommending them to our guests.” ~Sue1

“Last week’s Social Committee lunch at Vibes in Concord was such a treat!  As a new GSA, this was my first social event, and it did not disappoint.  I reconnected with a few GSAs I’ve met at volunteer events and met some lovely new folks as well. Despite our large group, the service was fast, as well as friendly.  My turkey burger and sweet potato fries were hot and delicious. I appreciated the manager Daiquiri taking the time to welcome us and give an overview of the history and mission of Vibes. This is a local business that I would highly recommend supporting.” ~Julie N.

“Great time, delicious Concord burger, will stop again if in the area.” ~Dave B.

“Many choices of burgers all looked and sounded good. Plus LARGE
. Served light beers, soda and bottled drinks.
. Atmosphere was cozy and quaint in a classy way.
. Personnel helpful in making “choices” and explaining how the meal is picked up by customer, but in our case, delivered to the table because of the group size.” ~Margaret M.

“Kelly and I were very happy that we were able to participate in this delicious and fun lunch!  I ordered a veggie patty of the Chop House burger, with blue cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and caramelized onions.  And of course we couldn’t miss the fries, so we split an order of sweet potato fries.  I will definitely be returning for another tasty meal!” ~Emily M.
