Abbot-Spaulding House Museum
The Federal Revival style Abbot-Spaulding House was the home to a succession of prominent Nashua citizens, including Daniel Abbot who is the father of Nashua, George Perham and William Spaulding. In addition to the outstanding architecture of the Federal style home, the furnishings are fine pieces collected by the Spauldings, including glass, china.

Alva de Mars Megan Chapel Art Center

Bear Brook State Park – Museum Complex
The Museum Complex, located a half-mile from the toll booth, has multiple museums housed in buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The buildings have historical significance because of their ties to the CCC. Some of the museums you can visit include the Museum of Family Camping, the New Hampshire Antique Snowmobile Museum, the Richard Diehl Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Museum, and the Old Allenstown Meeting House. The Bear Brook Camp is still one of the largest and most complete CCC camps still standing, and its age and historical significance earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places.

Canterbury Shaker Village
One of a number of Shaker communities founded in the 19th Century, Canterbury is the most intact surviving community. Guided Tours, Demonstrations, and Special Events are offered. There is also a gift site featuring Shaker style priducts and a cafe.

Carey House – Milford Histroical Society
Working to preserve the history of Milford, New Hampshire for present and future generations. Portraits of founding fathers, historic signage from local businesses and maps of historical significance decorate the walls. Take a few steps farther into the museum and view the large variety of products manufactured in Milford from the mid-19th century through the present day.

Cat Alley
Walking around Manchester, check out Cat Alley, a small open air gallery of cat themed street art. Most of the artists are young graffiti artists, brought in to teach them to respect property and feel pride in their work instead of defacing property – giving them positive ways to channel their creativity.

Conservation Center – Forest Society of New Hampshire
Not an actual museum, but the first Leeds Gold certified building in New Hampshire. The Conservation Center demonstrates the use of renewable natural resources and energy conservation techniques in design and construction. The campus is a great example of the evolution of energy-conscious design since 1980. Open for for self-guided tours, group tours are available with advance reservations.) After your walk through the buildings, you can follow the Les Clark Nature Trail through the floodplain through the pine forest planted in the 1960’s (check out the alignment of the trees), and the silver maple forest.

Contoocook Railroad Museum
Located in Contoocook Village, the park includes the Contoocook train depot, the world’s oldest surviving covered railroad bridge, a 1907 vintage passenger coach, late 1800’s section house, and the Lewellen Bandstand.

Derry Museum of History
The intimate, lower level museum is full of Derry’s heritage, from special exhibits on veterans, war heroes and the dairy industry, to shoe manufacturers, local business, poet and onetime Derry resident Robert Frost, and famed astronaut and Derry native Alan B. Shepard.

Fitts Museum
The Fitts Museum building was once known as the Captain Jesse Eaton place. The original one room home (now the kitchen) and a loft above was probably the first dwelling on this site, while the Federal style front section was added around 1820. The Rev. James Hill Fitts purchased the home in 1882 for $745.00 and evidence shows that he and his brother, J. Lane Fitts, established a museum there in 1885. One account states that the museum held a “collection of wood that includes pieces from the old frigate “Constitution” (1799), from an ancient wharf (1631) [and] from the Old South Church in Boston (1720).” These items are still on display in the museum today. Rotating displays also at the Smyth PUblic Library.

Goffstown Historical Society
The Goffstown Historical Society was organized November 16, 1969, and incorporated on November 19, 1970. The Parker Building, housing the Museum of the Goffstown Historical Society, was used by William Parker in 1804 as a general store and carried on the business until his death in 1839. He was succeeded by his sons, John M. and David A. Parker who continued the mercantile business as the J.M. and D.A. Parker Depot Store until 1872. Goffstown West Village was developing as an economic, political and social center, so the brothers moved the general store easterly to the village area. Parker Brothers’ Store continued in business on Main Street In Goffstown, under the brothers and their descendents until the 1960’s. The Depot Store building, at Parker’s Station, was used for storage and provide housing for the Parker farm workers and to provide accommodations for occasional drovers and loggers traveling on business.

Hampstead Historical Society
Collection contains artifacts from the beginning of the town in 1749. Includes hand written sermons by the first pastor of the church, a Boston Post Cane given tot he oldest member of the town by the Boston Post Newspaper, and the Wheelwright deed of 1629 that helped set the boundaries for the town of Hampstead.

Hose House 2, Police & Firefighting Museum
The newly renovated stone and clapboard building is a reminder of a time when turn-of-the-century fire vehicles were pulled by horses and blazes had to be fought without hydrants. One of the museum’s most-prized possessions is a 1902 horse-drawn hose wagon.

Kalil House
The Kalil House was recently aquired by the Currier. Wright used the term Usonian Automatic to describe the design of economical Usonian style houses constructed of modular concrete blocks. This house illustrates Wright’s creative use of this inexpensive material. It is one of only seven Usonian Automatic houses to survive.

Kimball House/ Atkinson Historical Society
The original 8 room house was built by Reverend Stephan Peaboyd circa 1772. It had a southern exposure and still contains the original gunstock beams and several Christian doors. In the early 1900’s the house was modernized in the Victorian style adding the bay windows, elevating the roof, and adding the two grreat central dormers. Now houses Hhistorical Society exhibits.

Lawrence L Lee Scouting Museum
The northeast’s largest display of Scouting memorabilia. The L. L. Lee Scouting Museum is staffed by a volunteer group of dedicated Scouters who collectively comprise hundreds of years of Scouting. The museum contains colorful and historic exhibits such as Scouts on Stamps from Making to the present, the Joseph Moyer World Jamboree collection, a complete display of Max Silber buckles, original paintings of Boy’s Life covers, and a flag carried to the moon by America’s first astronaut and New Hampshire Scout Alan Shepard. Little Nature Museum
The mission of The Nature Discovery Center is to develop awareness and appreciation of the natural world and the environment through the Museum’s hands-on and interactive collections, trails, and educational programs. McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center
Science museum that honors Alan B. Shepard, first American to travel into space and Sharon Christa McAuliffe the first teacher in space who died in the Challenger disaster. Morrison House/Londonderry Historical Society
Morrison House is a beautiful example of an 18th century farmhouse as it would have appeared in the mid-19th century. The house serves as a museum for Londonderry artifacts such as early muskets, the running horse weathervane from the Robie House and a fragment of silk from Ocean Born Mary’s wedding dress. Londonderry was a center for the production of flax and linen and there is a display of related items such as a flax wheel, hetchels and a loom. Country furnishings, early hearth iron and even children’s items complete this pre-Civil War rural farmhouse. To further enhance the Morrison House restoration we have added the Parmenter Barn, Clark Blacksmith Shop, and most recently, the Litchfield Carriage Shed.

North East Motor Sports Museum
The museum is all about New England motorsports with race cars and motorcycles from all disciplines, all with a New England background, on display. Nottingham Square Schoolhouse
DAR owns, operates, and maintains this schoolhouse and gives tours. On the National Register of Historic Places. The two-story wood frame building was built in 1850 as the first schoolhouse in the town, a purpose it served until 1920. Museum is on the top floor of the building owned by the DAR.

Taylor Swamill
The Taylor Sawmill is situated on the 71-acre Ballard State Forest in Derry, New Hampshire. Robert Taylor, for whom the mill is named, bought the property in 1799 and began operating an “up and down” sawmill similar to the current one about 1805. We are not sure of exactly when this mill stopped running.

The “Wigwam” & Chapel Museums – Amherst Historical Society
Built in 1839 as a Methodist chapel, it earned it’s nickname, “The Wigwam,” in 1879 when the Methodist Society remodeled the building and raised the roof. Inside you can see the ceiling painted by itinerate Italians that is reminiscent of designs seen in Italy. The Congregational Church built the Chapel (aka the Annex) in 1858 to hold their winter services, as the smaller building was much easier to heat. visitors will find a wide array of historical memorabilia relating to Amherst including maps, photos, scrapbooks, clothing and furniture.

The Pierce Manse

Van Dame School Museum
The Dame School is a historic meeting house, school, and now local historical museum. The single story wood-frame Greek Revival structure was built in 1840 as a church; according to local legend, timbers from a 1740 church were used in its construction. Its main facade has a simple entrance topped by a transom window, and flanked by a pair of windows. The building is topped by a three-stage tower, whose second stage houses a belfry, and whose spire is topped by a weathervane in the shape of a quill pen.

Weare Historical Society Museum

Zimmerman House
The Zimmerman House is a historic house located at 223 Heather Street. Built in 1951, it is the first of two houses in New Hampshire designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and one of a modest number of Prairie School designs in the northeastern United States.

Church on the Plains
The deconsecrated First Universalist Church, known locally as the Church on the Plains, is a historic church building on Main Street in Kingston, New Hampshire. Built in 1879 to a design by the regionally prominent architect C. Willis Damon, it is a fine local example of Stick/Eastlake architecture.

Colonel Paul Wentworth House
The circa 1701 Colonel Paul Wentworth House as an educational and cultural center for Rollinsford and the lower Salmon Falls region. Fort Constitution Historic Site
The State of New Hampshire gave the United States the neck of land on which Fort William and Mary and a lighthouse were situated. The fort was repaired, renamed Fort Constitution and garrisoned with a company of United States artillery. Renovations, which included a wall twice as high as that of the colonial fort and new brick buildings, were completed in 1808. It is the ruins of this fort that are seen today.

Fort Stark Historic Site
Fort Stark Historic Site is located on a peninsula historically called Jerry’s Point on the southeast corner of New Castle Island. It overlooks the Piscataqua River, Little Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. Fort Stark was named in honor of John Stark, commander of N.H. forces at the Battle of Bennington (1777). An unmarked walking trail traverses the ten-acre fort site. (Use caution)

Fremont Historical Museum
The Museum houses over 50 fascinating exhibits dating between 1734 and 2001 — including wreckage from the B-52 Stratofortress Plane that crashed into Fremont’s Spruce Swamp on August 10, 1959- the first B-52 plane crash in American history without casualties; the historic Spaulding & Frost Barrel Cooperage that operated between 1874 &1999 – the oldest white pine Cooperage in the United States; the historic 1800 Twin-Porch Meeting House – one of only two unique twin-porch meeting houses in the United States; plus numerous other exhibits.

Fuller Gardens
One of the last Fromal Working Estate Grdens of the 20th Century. The formal rose gardens designed in the Colonial Revival style were commissioned during the late 1920s by Massachusetts Governor Alvan T. Fuller and designed by the Olmstead Firm as an ornament to his summer estate. The Japanese garden is usually in bloom in May and English the perennial plantings provide a continuous array of color and interest from spring until fall. A DAHLIA display garden also is full of color all season. The gardens are lined within large sculpted hedges, and the rose beds are framed in an array of superbly kept turf paths.

Gilma Garrison House
The Gilman Garrison House is a historic house museum. Built in 1709, it is a rare surviving example of a First Period garrison house, built with a number of clearly defense-related features. The museum exhibits regional history through the lives of generations of Gilmans and other residents. His installation includes view ports that reveal the fascinating architectural evolution of the garrison house.

Governor John Langdon House
John Langdon was a merchant, shipbuilder, Revolutionary War leader, signer of the United States Constitution, and three-term governor of New Hampshire. At the end of the nineteenth century, his descendants purchased the house and restored it to its eighteenth-century appearance. They added a substantial wing designed by the architectural firm of McKim, Mead, and White to house modern necessities. The house tells the story of the early colony of New Hampshire, Portsmouth’s mercantile boom, and the Colonial Revival movement.

Great Bay Discovery Center
Take a hike thru Forests, salt marshes, and mudflats. Being part of the North American flyway there are plenty of opportunities to spot birds and other wildlife. James House
The James house is a living museum of architectural and social hhistory of early New England. The James House is recognized as a true “first period” colonial. The house built for Benjamin James in 1723, near the salt meadows of Hampton, New Hampshire, is regarded as perhaps the earliest surviving example of the two-room deep, center-chimney colonial in New Hampshire. All of its original framing remains intact.

Rundlet-May House
Merchant James Rundlet built his home on a terraced rise and filled it with the finest furnishings available. His home was equipped with the latest technologies. The kitchen boasts both a Rumford roaster and a Rumford range. There is an early coal-fired central heating system and an indoor well. The gardens retain their original layout with plantings that were popular during the Colonial Revival period.

Tobias Lear House

Vaugh Cottage Museum & Library
Free but involves a ferry ride to Star Island. Wentworth By The Sea

The Works Barn houses a collection of farm tools, machinery and vehicles in use before electricity or gasoline engines. In the Allard House you can see Freedom memorabilia, mostly items donated by local residents. Lane Tavern
The exact date of its construction is unknown, but records related to its operation date before 1808. Charles Lane bought the tavern in 1825, and the Lane name has remained part of its heritage. Meredith Historical Society
The former Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church, aka the Pottle Meetinghouse, is one of the oldest buildings still standing in the town. It was acquired by the Meredith Historical Society in 1950. After years of use as its headquarters, the building was converted in 1998 into a historical museum displaying decades-old farming equipment used during the seasonal cycle of farming in early New Hampshire.

Wakefield Heritage Park Railroad Museum
The 1912 Union Train Station, freight house, and blacksmith shop on Chapel Street (within walking distance of the station) are all owned and maintained by the Wakefield Heritage Commission. Andover Historical Society Museum-Potter Place Railroad Station
The Potter Place Railroad Station, built in 1874, houses a significant portion of the Society’s historical collection. This station is an extremely well-preserved example of Victorian station design and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located on the Northern Railroad (later the Boston and Maine Railroad) line that ran from Boston to White River Junction in Vermont and on to Montreal. This station preserves intact the station master’s office and recreates the feeling of a busy railroad depot of the early to mid-20th century.

Fort at No. 4 Living History Museum
Open Air Museum. The Fort at Number 4 was a fortification protecting Plantation Number 4, the northernmost British settlement along the Connecticut River in New Hampshire until after the French and Indian War. Number 4 was one of 32 towns established on the same day through the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Historic Newport Walking Tour
Surrounded by foothills, our Main Street boasts one of the largest Town Commons in the state, our Town Hall/Opera House, built in 1886, the “Little Red Schoolhouse” preserved just as it was in 1885, two of the eight remaining historic railroad covered bridges in North America, a 1994 replica of the Corbin Covered Bridge built c. 1835 and destroyed by arson in 1993, three original Revere bells, a view from the Pinnacle, and the Pollards Mill swimming hole.

Hood Museum of Art
Dating back to 1772, the museum is owned and operated by Dartmouth College. The current building, designed by Charles Willard Moore and Chad Floyd, opened in the fall of 1985. In 2019, the Hood Museum expansion increased gallery space by a third and made improvements to the original Charles Wilard Moore gallery. The museum houses both permanent collections and visiting exhibitions. While visiting the Hood Museum, be sure to visit the Epic of American Civilization murals at the Baker Library on the Dartmouth campus and the public art on view throughout the campus.

Little Red Schoolhouse
The Little Red School House, or the District No. 7 Schoolhouse is a one-room schoolhouse on New Hampshire Route 10, south of downtown Newport, New Hampshire. Built in 1835, it is one of the state’s few surviving pre-1850 district schoolhouses, and one of the least-altered of that group. It is currently owned by the Daughters of The American Revolution.

Old Webster Meeting House
The Old Webster Meeting House is a historic meeting house at 1220 Battle Street in Webster, New Hampshire. The Amos J. Blake house, built in 1837, was designed to be a store with living quarters attached. Wilton Town Hall Theater
The Wilton Town Hall Theater, built in 1886. It was first used as a playhouse for traveling shows and vaudeville. One can still see the original stage that actors used in the late 1800’s. It was then converted in 1912 to a silent film house. Its popularity boomed as sound was introduced, and World War II hit, as it was the only local theater to provide current news reels.

Wyman Tavern

Lisbon Historic & Railroad Station Museum

New England Ski Museum
Welcome to the New England Ski Museum. Our mission is to collect, conserve, and exhibit elements of ski history for research, education and inspiration. Our permanent exhibition is From the First Tracks to the Fall Line: eight thousand years of skiing. It presents a timeline of the development of skiing from its prehistoric roots up until the advent of the shaped ski in the 1990s, and includes local aspects of ski history with national implications such as several important ‘firsts’ at Cannon Mountain, and the career of area native Bode Miller.

Sugar Hill Historical Museum
The museum includes information of this scenic hillside town from 1780 to the present. Our campus consists of two barns, one main building, and the Reid-Burpee house adjacent to the Carriage Barn. The Russel Colbath House
The Russell/Colbath House is a historic house on the Kancamagus Highway in Albany, New Hampshire. It is located in the White Mountain National Forest, and is operated as a museum by the United States Forest Service. Built about 1831, it is the only surviving early homestead in the Swift River valley.

This 14 room Victorian was home and contained the professional offices of the late Dr. Irving Moffett and his wife. The main floor displays artifacts, albums, and numerous memorabilia from the past. Tilloston Center
Not only is the North Country blessed with natural beauty of its lakes, mountains, forests, its also has a rich heritage of people, places, and things that make this region what it is. With the help of the Colebrook Area Historical Society, the Tillotson Center celebrates this heritage with a special museum operated as an annex to the Society’s Town Hall Museum.
