Social Outing to Galley Hatch
On October 23, a few of us met at the Galley Hatch in Hampton NH. John Tinios (owner) told us that the Galley Hatch is a family owned restaurant that has operated for over 45. Over the years the small restaurant has added café, bakery, gift shop, tap room, and a higher end restaurant next door called Tinos. We had an excellent server named Tim, and everyone enjoyed their meal. It’s a nice place to come to because they have a wide section of menu choices.
After lunch a few of us went over to Applecrest Farm Orchards. They are the oldest and largest apple orchard in New Hampshire. They are also family owned. We had fun feeding the goats and eating cider donuts. The weather could not have been better and location could not have been prettier. NH at its best. Dana Wagner (owner) met us and gave us a little history about the farm. We all need to reread the book Cider House Rules, because John Irving worked at the orchard as one of his first jobs. The farm is a great place to go with children. Lots of weekend festivals with free tractor rides, music, face painting and farm animals. They also have a great food market and bakery that is open year around. And they will soon open a new restaurant.
Some input from some of the attendees about our experience…
Lunch was delicious! My salmon burger was very tasty, the service was great, and the company was wonderful! ~Emily G
A beautiful day to spend in Hampton at a family owned and neighborhood friendly restaurant. Three in one – Coffee shop/gift/bookstore, Greek Restaurant and Seafood/American offering. Excellent atmosphere, great food, unbelievable service! Applecrest Farm provided the perfect ending. Thank you! ~Kathryn S
A fabulous day at the Seacoast! The Galley Hatch is a wonderful restaurant and it was nice to have the owner stop to give us some of their history. My Reuben was excellent (very lean like I like it) and our server, Tim was wonderful (very attentive). And Applecrest was amazing, not just another apple farm. It is another family owned business with lots of things going on. What a great place to come with the kids or to shop for local produce. Wonderful!! ~Sue G
It was a fantastic day in Hampton and It really was sunny in NH today! Weather and restaurant were excellent. The Galley Hatch will be celebrating 50 years at this location and it’s great to see their success! Thanks for arranging this lunch and the little side trip to Applecrest Farm. ~Connie L
