Tour: Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse

Eligibility: Closed at this time. Special Perk tour.

Visitors get to climb to the lantern room to enjoy the magnificent view and to see the fourth-order Fresnel lens up close. Volunteers will tell visitors about the history of the light station. There are 44 stairs to the watch room and a 7-rung ladder to the lantern room. Flat shoes (not sandals or flip-flops) are required to climb the ladder into the lantern room.

Meeting location: Outside the Coast Guard Station

Address: Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is located on an active military facility, U.S. Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor. The official street address for Station Portsmouth Harbor is 25 Wentworth Road, New Castle, New Hampshire. When visiting the station please adhere to any posted Coast Guard regulations.

Parking: Park near the gate, and the tour leader will meet you there. As a group, form a line of cars to drive onto the station and over to the lighthouse

Uniform: GSA uniform required (green shirts, khaki pants)
